The following is a list of guidelines that will help to eliminate problems and result in a swift and prompt service of the highest standard.
Quotations At Trethewey Stone Ltd we provide a free no obligation quotation service and every endeavour is made to carry out this function as accurately and promptly as possible. To achieve this we will require as much information as possible, namely:
1. Choice of material: Stone slab varies in price per m2 according to its specific properties and origins. When a choice has not been indicated we will price using an average figure.
2. Edge Finish: Eg. bullnose, rolled, pencil round, square arris etc. This is calculated on lineal metre rates and can have considerable impact in the final price.
3. Sink Mounting: Eg. over mounted, under mounted, top flush mounted, rebate under mounted. Again, there can be a substantial price difference between styles.
4. Items such as: Radiused corners, tap holes, water filter & air switch holes should all be indicated as well as any up stands.
5. Location & site access: Will the installation be local, within the greater Wellington area? Is the site access easy or difficult? Will the installation be on a ground floor or up a flight of stairs ? The answers to these questions help determine likely installation costs.
6. Specifications: A clear detailed drawing is necessary, preferably to scale. All dimensions should be shown and where possible, the size and positioning of sink and hob cut outs as this often dictates likely joint positions and rail requirements. Finished edges clearly indicated.
7. Quote acceptance: This is to be done in writing by signing the quote form and returning a copy to Trethewey Stone with accompanying order.
IMPORTANT: After quoting no further action such as holding material etc will take place until the quote has been formally accepted and the deposit received. As quotations are based on current stock availability at time of enquiry, delay in confirmation can lead to disappointment through availability of product.
Production Schedules: Once a quote has been accepted and any design, detail, material changes & costs adjusted, the job will be placed in a production schedule. This will ensure that sufficient material is placed on hold. At this point we need to be advised of an approximate time frame regarding expected installation date and template availability.
When actual availability of carcass for templating is advised or finished sizes are supplied, this date is used as a basis of installation date, namely 10 working days from availability of template / templating assuming template can be completed i.e. all necessary details, bowls hobs tap hole locations are available for our templater.
Templates: A template is a mdf pattern that we make at your house from the cabinetry. We recommend templates are made to ensure a great fit and quick install. The only real exception to this is where the item is of regular shape and free standing or where the client takes over responsibility for wrong dimension given.
To enable an accurate template to be made, we require the cabinets to be fully installed – ie. Screwed into position and levelled. If the cabinet installation is unsatisfactory our installers are advised not to proceed.
Also required at the time of templating are the hobs, sinks and taps or any other accessary clients require. In the case of bathroom vanities, especially semi recessed, we need to have the basin in the factory to ensure the best possible fit.
Any deviation from our standard templating procedures will increase the risk of unsatisfactory installation. An example of this is when we have been supplied a template patterned from the floor of the building and/or unfinished joinery.
Installation We undertake to our best efforts to install on the required date, provided we have been informed of this well in advance and that the template availability falls within the 10 working days.
As some sections of a granite top can weigh as much as 250kg, it is important that we be allowed the best access possible free of obstructions.
If possible we would prefer to have the area clear from any obsticles while installing.
For installation of the finished tops to be carried out to the highest standard, it is imperative that the cabinetry is level & true.
Cabinetry needs to be flush where units butt together.
Carcass cutouts for sink bowls & hobs and adequate support for front & rear rails need to be addressed by joiner proir to install.
Once installed protection of the top will be the clients’ responsibility.
